Eric Yuan’s platform incorporated a number of new features to improve the user experience.
The Zoom video conferencing application introduced a series of new functions this Thursday to improve accessibility to all users, including the ability to highlight or pin multiple videos during meetings.
Through the pins, Zoom ya allowed to fix a video all time, or also choose the option to highlight the speaker. However, this continued to pose problems for users who needed simultaneous translation, among other things.
To improve accessibility, the application now allows you to do “multipinning”, so that it is possible pin multiple videos in one place, regardless of which users are speaking. The host can give permission for a maximum of nine meeting participants to make this multiple selection.
For its part, the new function multispotlight allows you to see all users at the same time, but highlighting the videos that the host chooses, up to a maximum of also nine.
Likewise, the platform also added other changes aimed at making it more accessible. In gallery view, videos are reordered depending on who speaks or raises their hand. Now Zoom users can drag and drop them with their own custom order.
The subtitling function also introduced new features, and now allows you to control the size of the text in the accessibility settings. The company also highlighted that Zoom supports the main screen reading programs, as well as other functions present in the accessibility section in Zoom for desktop.
In addition to the incorporation of “multipinning”, the video calling platform met one of the demands of Android phone users: the ability to change the background during a meeting.
From Thursday, Android users can add a virtual background to video conferences thanks to the new update of the Zoom application.
However, these images can only be still photos, as videos are not supported at the moment.
Another of the new functions added to the application is that Zoom integrates with the users’ agenda, facilitating access to a meeting without having to open the calendar or select the URL of the next meeting.
With the new update, users will also be able to share their device’s audio with participants. Attendees will also be able to select their meeting room and other meeting chat features have been improved.
