Zoom has become almost equivalent to the term video conferencing, after in the pandemic the application gained enormous popularity.
However, the application does not remain without problems, and one of the most important of these refers to the access of uninvited visitors to conferences – something you do not want if you are a teacher and teach your students or even if you talk to friends on Zoom .
The phenomenon of zoombombing has grown, and in Romania it was popularized by a group of teenagers who were having fun disturbing the online classes, grouped around the name of “Clan of Lions”.
Although Zoom already has many security options, participants could share the password of a conference and anyone could enter.
Now, Zoom launches new options useful for those who organize conferences. Thus, teachers, for example, will have more control over access to and participation in online conferences or classes.
Suspension of the participants’ activity
In the Security menu, those who started the conference will have the opportunity to temporarily suspend any activity within the group.
Through the “Suspend Participant Activities” option, all video, audio, chat, annotations or screen share communications within the group or by a single user will be stopped.
So, if a participant disrupts the online meeting or has entered unauthorized, you can stop him from doing anything.
In addition, you can notify Zoom about such users, giving a report accompanied by a screenshot to Zoom. Subsequently, the application team will analyze that complaint and will be able to suspend the accounts.
The “Suspend Participant Activities” option will be available for all Zoom accounts, both free and paid.
Reporting by participants
Hosts of an online meeting can report users, but now even simple users can do so. If an unauthorized user appears, anyone will be able to report it to Zoom.
Thus, the host of the online course or class will no longer have the responsibility to follow dozens of people in an online meeting, being able to rely on trusted people in the class, for example.
