Willem II has strengthened himself with John Yeboah. The attacker, who played on a rental basis at VVV-Venlo last season, comes over from VfL Wolfsburg and signs a three-year contract in Tilburg.
Yeboah was part of the Wolfsburg youth academy from 2015, but never managed to break through in the Bundesliga. He came to three games in the main body of the Volkswagen club.
Last season Yeboah, who has a German and Ghanaian passport, played for VVV-Venlo on a rental basis. In eighteen official appearances, he scored one goal and gave one assist.
Twenty-year-old Yeboah is the seventh reinforcement for Willem II, who finished fifth in the aborted Eredivisie season and thus won a ticket for the second heat of the Europa League.
Eerder contracteerden de ‘Tricolores’ Mike Trésor Ndayishimiye (NEC), Leeroy Owusu (De Graafschap), Derrick Köhn (Bayern München II), Kwasi Okyere Wriedt (Bayern München II), Robbin Ruiter (PSV) en Jorn Brondeel (FC Twente).
It is not yet clear on Tuesday whether Yeboah is entitled to play for the Europa League match of Willem II against the Luxembourg Progrès Niederkorn. The first whistle will sound on Wednesday at 6.30 pm in Niederkorn, Luxembourg.
