Willem II experienced a painful European evening against Rangers FC on Thursday. The Tilburgers noticed that they were equivalent to the Scottish top club in their own stadium, but lost the match in the third Europa League preliminary round with 0-4.
“It was a great adventure, but it lasted too short. We did not have to be inferior to Rangers in football, but in the finish we did not do well enough”, concluded trainer Adrie Koster in front of the camera. RTL 7.
Willem II did indeed get chances, but was already 0-2 behind an efficient Rangers at half time. In the second half, the Tilburg team again missed opportunities and it was again the opponent who struck.
Captain Jordens Peters agreed with trainer Koster. “We’ve had a lesson in effectiveness. Given the one hundred percent odds, we could have even won,” he said FOX Sports.
“But the tricky part is: if you lose 0-4, what right of speech do you have? Ultimately, it’s about winning. Football is also about stability, making no mistakes, being solid and effective.”
The evening was disappointing on several fronts for Willem II, as a large group of supporters gathered on a square in the city to watch the match, violating the corona rules.
