As reported by the Royal Automobile Club of Spain, the President of the RACE Foundation, the Ilmo. Mr. Fernando Falcó and Fernández de Córdova, Marqués de Cubas, died this morning in Madrid.

Fernando Falcó has been linked all his life to this centennial Club. On March 26, 1976, with only 35 years, it wasappointed president of RACE replacing the Count of the Andes. During their 27 years of presidency, the Club suffered a major transformation, becoming a prominent national and international entity.

The integration and diversification of the services to the partners, the modernization of the management, the entry into the insurance and big business worlds resulted in a very important growth in the number of partners.

In the international planHe, Fernando Falcó managed to both Spain and the Club had more and more influence in entities as important as the International Automobile Federation (FIA), of which RACE is a founding member, as well as of the International Tourism Alliance (AIT), holding positions of high responsibility in both entities.

Regarding the sporting aspect, Falcó achieved keep the Jarama-RACE Circuit in a prominent place in motorsport. Thanks to that, during his presidency, the Jarama – RACE Circuit hosted important international races, such as Formula 1, Motorcycle Grand Prix, or traditional truck races.

Ten years after leaving the presidency of the Club, and under the presidency of Carmelo Sanz de Barros (current head of the institution), Fernando Falcó assumed the position of president of the RACE Cultural Foundation.

Now exactly eight years ago, on October 17, 2012, Falcó accepted the position, which he assumed with responsibility and strong leadership, both in the defense of historic motorsports as in the development of road safety as fundamental axes of its action.
