Who is next in line for England’s throne? Britain’s royal lineage of succession

After serving 70 years as Britain’s longest-serving monarch, Queen Elizabeth II died At the age 96, at her home in Balmoral Castle in Scotland on Sept. 8, 2022. 

Prince Charles, her eldest child, was elected the new king immediately after her death.

There are specific protocols governing the line and succession of Charles’s successors. In January 2019, Prince Harry (Duke and Duchess) of Sussex, and Meghan, the Duchess and Duke of Sussex, announced their plans. Reduce back They are still obligated to their royal duties. However, these plans do not include an abdication. They are still in the line for succession… as are their two children.

Here’s a look, in chronological order, at who is next to the throne.

Charles, her eldest child, succeeded Queen Elizabeth II. King Charles III. The monarchy in Britain recognizes that the heir to the throne ascends to their successor immediately after the death of their predecessor. Later, a formal ceremony and coronation take place.

Charles’s wife Camilla now has the title queen consort — an honor Queen Elizabeth announced in February 2022, Say it Camilla said that it was her “sincere desire that, when that happens, Camilla will become Queen Consort.”

Charles’s eldest, Prince William, is now the first in line to inherit the throne. 

Like His father Before him, he was granted the title Prince and Duke of Cornwall and Cambridge, while William’s wife Catherine is now Princess.
