The director of the World Health Organization wished Donald Trump and his wife Melania a “full and speedy recovery” on Friday, hours after the US president announced on Twitter that he had tested positive for Covid-19.

“Best wishes to President @realDonaldTrump and @FLOTUS (the Twitter account of the First Lady of the United States) for a full and speedy recovery,” tweeted Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, whose organization has been accused by the US president of being incompetent in managing the pandemic.

Public enemy of the WHO

Trump has been one of the most incredulous leaders with the voracious effects of what he has always called the “Chinese virus”, alluding to its origin in the city of Wuhan. He has also used it as a political weapon against Beijing and against the World Health Organization (WHO), which he suspended funding in retaliation.
