Nurse Dawn Wooten has lodged a complaint with the Chief Inspector of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security about the Migrant Detention Center in Georgia.

Wooten in its complaintthat an alarming number of hysterectomies are being carried out on Spanish-speaking migrant women at the detention center. Wooten’s complaint has also been signed by several migrant rights organizations.

The detention center in Irwin County, Georgia is under the auspices of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Wooten previously worked at this particular center.

– I became a whistleblower and now I’m the target, Wooten says BBC: n mukaan.

However, Wooten says he is more of a target than part of a system he calls inhuman. He says he drifted into trouble after complaining about the conditions in the detention center and that he was reduced as a result.

“She’s a womb collector”

In his complaint, Wooten states that the detained women have told him that they have not fully understood why their uterus has been removed.

In her complaint, Wooten says some women may have needed a hysterectomy, but not all of their wombs could have been “unworthy”.

According to the complaint, in addition to Wooten, other nurses also marveled at the number of hysterectomies in the detention center. In particular, according to the complaint, one doctor specialized in this field.

– We have asked each other that it’s a good time to take it away from everyone … It’s his specialty, he’s a uterine collector, Wooten says in his complaint.

One of the organizations that signed Wooten’s complaint interviewed migrant women, one of whom described the detention center as an “experimental concentration camp”.

– They do experiments on our bodies, the immigrant woman says.

In his complaint, Wooten further points out that the detention center has neglected the health care of migrants, especially during the corona pandemic. According to him, detainees have not been tested for symptoms and patient records have been falsified.

The Finnish Immigration Service (ICE) has commented on the complaint, stating that it takes the allegations seriously. The Agency affirms its commitment to the safety and well-being of detainees.

ICE detention centers have been heavily criticized for years for, among other things, the deprivation of detained children of their parents.
