Former Formula 1 driver Vitantonio Liuzzi contracted coronavirus at the end of October. Together with him, his wife Francesca Caldarelli and their three-year-old daughter became infected.
If Francesca and his daughter Liuzzi have a relatively mild illness, Vitantonio ended up in the hospital with bilateral pneumonia on a ventilator. Fortunately, Liuzzi is now on the mend.
“We were in Milan when Tonio had a fever, a cough, a sore throat, and he lost his sense of smell and taste,” Francesca Caldarelli told Il Centro newspaper. – We decided to return home to Sambucheto and isolate ourselves, but his condition deteriorated sharply and it became hard for him to breathe. I had to call an ambulance – it was a race against the clock. He was diagnosed with pneumonia.
I am very grateful to the doctors for their help. I don’t know how it would have ended without their intervention. ”
This season, Vitantonio Liuzzi came to the Formula 1 stage at Silverstone, where he was the third steward at the 70th Grand Prix.
