In Portimao, Sebastian Vettel finished tenth, while Charles Leclerc finished fourth. At a Ferrari press conference following the results of the race, Vettel was reminded of his words that he was unable to explain such a significant difference in speed between him and his partner, and was asked a direct question: does he admit the idea that his car is different from that where Leclair speaks?
“I guess I should think we have the same cars. I trust the people who work with me and in the team garage, ”Sebastian replied. – On the one hand, there is a stopwatch and data on the results of laps, on the other, there are my own feelings. And they say that I really do not manage to put together good circles, show consistent results and achieve the same level of grip that Charles manages to achieve. So I keep working on it.
There is nothing left but to work, nothing else will help me fix the situation. We are working hard with the team and I hope it improves next week.
It is clear that qualifications remain our weak point. On Sunday we have problems, because we are always in the middle of the peloton, and this complicates the task in the race, and it goes on in a completely different way. Therefore, our results on Sundays are not always indicative.
I don’t think the SF1000’s performance is more suited to Charles. I’ve been racing for a long time, and sometimes the cars suit you, sometimes not. But at the same time, you always try to adapt as quickly as possible, such a task always has to be solved, and it is before me this year. Nothing changed.
The question is how good grip you feel and how much you can use it. It looks like Charles has a different grip feel that I can’t get. Definitely, I am inferior to him in speed and for some reason I do not feel this grip. ”
