The government of Venezuela announced this Tuesday that it will incorporate “Chinese traditional medicine” to the treatment of patients with coronavirus, amid an escalation of contagion of the disease in the country.

“We are receiving an important traditional chinese medicine donation which has been being used very effectively in this sister country to combat Covid-19, “said the vice president, Delcy Rodríguez.

That medicine will be added to the “treatment schemes” of covid patients, added the official, accompanied by the Chinese ambassador, Li Baorong. It was expressed upon receiving the seventh “humanitarian flight“from China since the beginning of the pandemic.

“We know about the ancient Chinese wisdom,” Rodríguez stressed, according to the news agency AFP.

The cargo, which arrived on a plane from the Venezuelan state airline Conviasa, included mechanical ventilation equipment and test kits for hospitals.

Counting this shipment, Venezuela received from China more than 700 tons of medicines and equipment for humanitarian aid.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Venezuela accumulates 54,350 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 436 deaths from the disease, according to the last official balance of Monday night.
