After retiring to the Eifel Grand Prix, Valtteri Bottas is 69 points behind his partner in the individual competition. He does not give up the fight for the title, but believes that now only a miracle will allow him to get ahead of Hamilton.
Valtteri Bottas: “It’s always a shame to leave the race, but this is one of those situations when nothing depends on the driver. Yes, I blocked the wheels, losing the lead, but I still had a chance to win the race – because of the incident I had to switch to a strategy with two pit stops rather early, and it seemed to me the best.
In my opinion, the main reason for blocking is drizzling rain. I felt the worst grip when braking and the wheels locked right away. I drove first, Lewis immediately saw that I had a problem and reacted. But this happens in difficult conditions.
Even after that, I thought that nothing was over for me, but problems with the engine began. Now I’m losing a lot of points to Lewis – only a miracle will help me get ahead of him, but it’s too early to give up. We need to keep working and perform better. There is no point in constantly counting how many points I concede. Every weekend you need a goal and do everything to achieve it. I never give up and am not going to change my mind. “
