ISO 50001:2018 aids data centers to reduce costs, carbon footprint and engage stakeholders.

ISO 50001:2018 is an international standard that provides a framework for organizations to develop an energy management system (EnMS) to improve energy use. It encourages sustainability, energy efficiency and green energy practices at the organizational level and helps data centers reduce their energy costs, carbon footprint, and increase organizational engagement. The standard follows the “plan-do-check-act” process for continual improvement and is supported by third-party organizations, the U.S. Department of Energy, and the 50001 Ready Navigator tool. By following the ISO 50001:2018 standard, data centers can make informed decisions to implement energy-saving practices across sites, processes, equipment and operations, leading to verifiable savings for the facility.
