The vote count for the United States elections progresses slowly with an eye on Georgia and Pennsylvania, two states where hours ago Donald Trump used to lead, but this Friday Joe Biden took the lead, in a dramatic turn in the presidential race.
If the Democrat wins in these two states, his place in the White House is assured.
Only an eventual Biden win in Georgia would give him 16 votes in the Electoral College, leaving him alone one of the long-awaited majority of 270 voters.
By 11 a.m. this Friday, Biden was leading Trump in Georgia by 1,097 votes.
It would be a milestone for him to win there, since no Democratic candidate has won in Georgia since 1992, when Bill Clinton did. The state is one of those that has been the subject of lawsuits by Donald Trump’s campaign team.
The president’s options for reelection would be reduced if Georgia loses.
The count in the other hinge states is also slow with differences of just thousands of votes between the two candidates. And you may have to wait till night to know a final result, if there is one.
In Nevada, the democrat was ahead this Friday with 11,438 votes. Same in Arizona with 47,052.
The president was leading with 18,229 votes in Pennsylvania early Friday, but that gap with the Democrat narrowed to overtake Trump by 5,587 votes.
Thursday Biden was more than 600,000 votes behind Trump in that northeast state of the country.
Pennsylvania offers the spoils of 20 voters.
Biden’s rally in Georgia and Pennsylvania began when they started computing the millions of votes arrived by post, a terrain in which the Democrats have historically dominated.
The states keep counting and do not say when they will end. According to The New York Times, Georgia could finish processing votes during the day, possibly in the afternoon / evening.
Arizona It must still count more than 200,000 votes cast before the voting date, and it will make an update in the early afternoon this Friday.
