The Juniors qualified for the European Championship of 2021 on Tuesday. In Cyprus, the team of the substitute coach Marcel Groninger also won its eighth qualifying match. It was no less than 0-7 against Young Cyprus.
The Juniors will play two more qualifying matches
The Dutch Juniors led 0-1 at halftime thanks to a nice goal from Ajax midfielder Ryan Gravenberch. After the break, his clubmate and starting debutant Jürgen Ekkelenkamp scored twice.
However, the man of the match was Kaj Sierhuis. The Stade Reims striker scored three times, including one from a penalty kick.
Sierhuis was on the verge of attack instead of Myron Boadu. The AZ attacker had been disciplined by Groninger, who replaced national coach Erwin van de Looi with the corona virus. Boadu was allowed to come in and made the 6-0 shortly before the end.
In the last two European Championship qualifying matches, the Juniors play at home against Young Belarus and away against the only remaining competitor Young Portugal.
The group winners will qualify directly for the European Championship of 2021 in Hungary and Slovenia, just like the best five numbers two of the nine groups.
Young Portugal can still love the Juniors of the group win, but due to the victory in Cyprus and the results in other groups, the Juniors are one of the best numbers two anyway.
