The renowned German website Transfermarkt now believes that Erling Braut Haaland is worth 100 million euros.
This corresponds to just over one billion Norwegian kroner. Transfermarkt’s previous pricing was 80 million euros, 16 September this year. He has thus been estimated as much as 20 million euros more expensive in just over two months. During that time he has played 12 games and scored 17 goals …
This makes Jærbuen the ninth most valued football player in the world and no one is above him in the German Bundesliga. Now he is on par with his teammate Jadon Sancho.
– He is a 2000 model, scores in extreme amounts for a top team and has more or less all the qualities you want in a midfielder. In addition, he has found an almost unheard of and unseen stability for a young striker to be. He has also become a big profile worldwide, says VG’s football expert Tor-Kristian Karlsen when asked if he himself thinks Haaland is priced correctly.
See Haaland’s four goals against Hertha from last week here:
PSG’s shooting star Kylian Mbappé is clearly alone at the top with a value of 180 million euros. Behind him follow Raheem Sterling and Neymar at 128 million euros and Sadio Manè, Mohamed Salah, Harry Kane, Kevin De Bruyne and Trent Alexander-Arnold at 120 million euros.
– Transfermarkt has become quite precise in “appraising” players. The sums they operate with are admittedly calculated on the basis of previously comparable transitions, plus statistics, and do not take into account that the price is often pushed up as a result of demand, ie that clubs bid against each other. Therefore, their values are more to be interpreted as “appraised” than “market value”, but in most cases their estimates are actually on the conservative side. The big transitions often land a bit above their estimates, says Karlsen.
The 20-year-old light hair from Jæren was last weekend named Europe’s best young football player. The list of the highest rated in the world also shows that no player who is above Haaland is younger than him.
The Norwegian striker has delivered some insane numbers this season. In the Bundesliga he has played seven matches and has in those matches delivered ten goals and two goal-scoring assists. In the Champions League, he has played four games and scored six goals. In addition, he has one goal in the super cup final.
If you look at the numbers in total for Braut Haaland in the German big club, it shows an impressive 33 goals in 31 games. The 20-year-old from Jæren thus scores over one goal on average per game he plays for Borussia Dortmund.
– Which clubs can get such an expensive player?
– I would think that only the Manchester clubs, plus Chelsea and PSG will be involved in the battle for Haaland. Bayern Munich will be able to keep up to a certain point and Real Madrid has a tendency to “find money” if players show up who they really want. I have a hard time imagining other options. Liverpool have a completely different transfer strategy and Barcelona seem like a club that has a number of challenges to solve before they can make purchases in the category required here.
