According to Trabzonspor president Ahmet Agaoglu (63), Alexander Sørloth (24) has announced that he will leave the club. It will now be in talks with both RB Leipzig, Tottenham and part owner Crystal Palace.
– We will sell Sørloth for an amount of around 30 million euros. It will then be 15 million euros for each of us and Crystal Palace, says Agaoglu in an interview with the newspaper
VG was informed in January that on the purchase of the Norwegian for six million euros, which will basically be on loan at Trabzonspor from Crystal Palace until next summer. It also confirms Agaoglu.
He describes the agreement with the English as complicated, since it contains several elements and steps, but he sums it up by saying that in this transition window they will share a possible sale price.
At the same time, there is little indication that Sørloth is taking a new season in Turkey. Instead, it is time for a tug-of-war between José Mourinho’s Tottenham and Julian Nagelsmann’s RB Leipzig over the Trøndelag man’s signature.
VG has not succeeded in getting in touch with Sørloth or anyone who represents him.
Trabzonspor claimed last week in a press release that the 24-year-old has not arrived in Turkey as agreed after the previous national team gathering. The club also informed that they must have received an offer from RB Leipzig. According to Agaoglu, it has been between 15 and 20 million euros, while they want close to 30 million euros to release him.
– Sørloth is definitely a player who would help us. He scored a lot of goals last season. If he manages to copy the number in the Bundesliga, it would be great, in an interview a week and a half ago.
That Trabzonspor is about to lose Sørloth, is in any case something the supporters do not like. The Norwegian national team striker became an audience favorite with his 24 league goals for the team. The club president, for his part, believes that a sale will be part of their business model.
– Trabzon does not lose money on players we sign. When we signed Sørloth, the fans were unhappy, but what happened? Trabzon will not end up without a striker anyway. If a player wants to leave, we act according to what is best for the club, says Agaoglu.
Tottenham manager José Mourinho himself was relatively tight-lipped after the team’s Premier League loss to Everton on Sunday night, but the Portuguese did not deny that they are looking for Sørloth.
– I will not talk about the player, because he belongs to Trabzonspor – but if the president says so, I will not say that it is not true, Mourinho said.
