Honda F1 Technical Director Toyoharu Tanabe on the preparation of Japanese motorists for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix …
Toyoharu Tanabe: “After the race in the south of Portugal, we are going to Italy for the third time this season. The track in Imola is next to Faenza – this is the home race for our colleagues from AlphaTauri.
Imola has a rich history in Formula 1 – the track hosted the San Marino Grand Prix until 2006, and I have a lot of memories of those races and tests. This weekend in Formula 1 for the first time a two-day format – just one 90-minute Saturday workout before qualification and race. Considering this is our first visit to Imola in the era of hybrid engines, we will have a lot of work to do in these two days!
The very important preparation for the race will have to be done in one workout, while simultaneously optimizing the settings of the power plant, taking into account all the information collected this year.
Max and Pierre made the most of their Red Bull and AlphaTauri cars last weekend. We hope that this weekend all four of our drivers will have a good race. ”
