In the first round of the 16th round of the Central African Football Club Champions League held in San Pedro Sula, Honduras on Tuesday, the Portland Foresters drew 2-2 against their opponent’s territory in the CD Marathon.
The CD Marathon is currently in the first division of Honduras. The team’s last place in the group showed a good 2-5-3 record.
The second game between the two teams will be held in Providence Park, Oregon on April 13. CD Olympia, which won in 1972 and 1988, was the only team in Honduras to win this competition.
Later that night, the Atlanta United Football Club defeated Costa Rica’s La Liga Deportiva Alajuelense 1-0.
The MLS club won the first leg of the 16th round, despite having to face fewer players in many duels. Goalkeeper Brad Guzan was kicked out of the game in the 43rd minute. The 36-year-old veteran was punished for knocking down a competitor in the penalty area.
The only object of the meeting was the work of Ezequiel Barco. In the 50th minute, he was penalized. The Argentine placed the ball in the lower right corner of the opponent’s goal.
The two teams will play the second round in Georgia on April 13.
