The history of TikTok and the United States does not seem to end this month, or at least not before September 15 as planned, because after weeks of conversations in which it seemed that everything was on the right track for Microsoft to take over TikTok’s operations in the United States and other English-speaking countries, today the Redmond company has made it official that TikTok has rejected his offer.

So far TikTok has not offered a statement on the matter, but Microsoft has given an official position on the situation, stating the following in a statement:

“ByteDance let us know earlier today that they will not sell TikTok’s US operations to Microsoft. We are confident that our proposal would have been good for TikTok users, while also protecting national security interests. To that end, we would have made significant changes to ensure that the service met the highest standards for security, privacy, online safety, and fighting disinformation, and we have made these principles clear in our August statement. We look forward to seeing how the service evolves in these important areas. ”

It is strange that In the end ByteDance rejected Microsoft’s offer, since Walmart recently joined the Redmond company to make an even more attractive offer, but something seems that the Chinese company did not quite like it.

ByteDance issues warning to the United States

On the other hand, the company recently announced that it will not sell its algorithm to any North American company in case operations in the country are sold, that is, the company that buys TikTok will not be able to use its algorithm, this after China also moved token and will make changes in its laws to establish that intellectual property in the form of artificial intelligence could not be sold or exported without permission from the government of this country.

China’s move is a response to the aggressive move by the United States to block services (and in this case) and force North American companies to sell their operations.

The TikTok algorithm may be one of the interests of buyers to take over the company’s operations, however, with this movement and the rejection of Microsoft’s proposal it does not seem that things are going in the right way, or at least, as many of us thought it would happen. However, there are still some cards on the table.

¿Oracle o Twitter?

As mentioned by the New York Times, Oracle is another company that is interested in buying TikTok in the United States, and it may have a good chance of purchase, because let’s not forget that, according to rumors, Microsoft wanted to buy TikTok worldwide, and this is what it could having led ByteDance to reject their offer, however, in the case of Oracle it seems that the intention is only to take over operations in the United States.

Oracle has a good relationship with the US government and seems to agree with many of its positions, although for now there is nothing concrete about whether ByteDance will end up accepting the company’s offer.

On the other hand, for weeks it has been rumored that Twitter is also in talks with TikTok, neither of the two companies has mentioned anything about it, but rumors suggested that ByteDance was more interested in Twitter’s proposal than in Microsoft’s, although for now there are no official details about it.

Despite the fact that some media continue to manage that TikTok has until September 15 to complete its sale to a North American company or it will be forced to close operations in the United States, remember that Donald Trump launched an extension to finalize the sale until the next 12 November, so the company still has one more month to close an agreement with a company in the United States.
