The man arrested on Saturday is 33 years old and was present during the search carried out by the police on Friday night at the home of the second suspect suspected of having been in contact with the aggressor the day before the attack, AFP reports.

“We are trying to clarify his role,” a judicial source said.

A 47-year-old first suspect was arrested on Thursday after being seen with the attacker, and a 35-year-old second was detained in Nice on Friday night.

Investigators are trying to find out if the Nice attacker received complicity.

According to the first elements of the investigation, Brahim Issaoui, a 21-year-old Tunisian, arrived in Nice a day or two before the attack. On Thursday morning, the young man entered the basilica of Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption, located in the city center, and cut the neck of a 60-year-old woman, Nadine Devillers, and an employee of the place, Vincent Loques, aged 55. for years. Simone Barreto Silva, a 44-year-old Brazilian woman, was stabbed several times and died at a nearby restaurant.

The attacker was taken seriously injured to Pasteur Hospital in Nice. Unconsciously, he could not be heard by investigators yet.

Originally from Sfax, in central Tunisia, Brahim Issaoui smuggled into Europe via the Italian island of Lampedusa. He arrived in Lampedusa on September 20, and from there in Bari, in southeastern Italy, on October 9.

According to his mother, Brahim Issaoui repaired motorcycles and prayed for two and a half years. “He did not go out and communicate with others,” she told AFP.

In Tunisia, the young man had a common criminal record related to violence and drugs, reports AFP.
