Today, Bernie Ecclestone, who has been leading Formula One for three and a half decades until the arrival of Liberty Media in the US until early 2017, is celebrating her 90th birthday.

Blick from Switzerland talked to the Methuselah on the occasion of the holiday.

Of course, Ecclestone, who has criticized Liberty – partly out of insult and partly on the ground – from the beginning, could not stop this time without a “bezzeg in my time” comment, first criticizing the “crazy” engine formula introduced in 2014:

“When these new engines were introduced in 2014, I said the makers were crazy because Mercedes would win everything,” he began.

“The spectators had loved Formula 1 before, were passionate about his voice, and the riders were real heroes. Today, pilots are following in the footsteps of the press and saying commonplace things. ”

Ecclestone, now deprived of his retired presidency, has spent the last few years on his Brazilian estate, but more recently lives in Switzerland with his 44-year-old wife, Fabiana, and their little boy, Ace, born in July.

“At my age, one no longer bounces, doesn’t do stupid things. Two things are certain in life, taxation and death, but the latter has not yet come. I am happier than ever and it is very good that people are still calling for advice from the competitors today. ”

Asked what he considers to be his greatest achievements, he said, “that I saved a few teams from collapse – the Williams several times – and that I made many millionaires”.

There is only one big goal floating before his eyes today: “I wish I could talk to my son, Ace.”
