The Veikkausliiga ends with a regular season, and no separate championship and challenger series will be played. The results of the regular season remain valid, ie HJK will be crowned champion.
The board of the Veikkausliiga decided on Wednesday that the absolute deadline for the final series is November 30. However, the schedule went new due to new cases of corona.
– According to information received late on Wednesday night, together with Veikkausliiga, some of the players have been exposed to the coronavirus and quarantined. This would entitle the club to postpone the match for play after quarantine, the release said.
Postponing the match would mean that the final round of the regular season would also be postponed. Due to match transfers, the final series would not start until November 19th. When the deadline is the last day of November, there would be too little time to play.
HJK is currently at the top of the series three points ahead of KuPS. The people of Kuopio have only one match left, HJK has two.
The goal difference for the Helsinki team is 47–16 and for KuPS 37–23. Even if KuPS would win their last match and rise to a tie, HJK’s goal difference is so good that it is no longer possible to displace him from the championship.
The fate of silver and bronze is open instead. The third Inter is just a point away from KuPS. FC Honga’s difference to Inter is only three points. All teams have played equally.
RoPS drops to number one.
The regular season final round will be played on November 4th.
