It all started last year with a supposedly forgotten Macbook computer in a Delaware (USA) repair center full of private facts about Hunter Biden’s business and life, the son of the Democratic candidate for President of the country, Joe Biden, which are being published by the newspaper New York Post.

The latest installment in the series of exclusives, whose dissemination has been limited on Facebook and Twitter For breaching its terms of use, it reveals private messages and photos from the life of Biden’s second son, part of a gigantic archive of 11,550 emails and 25,000 photos.

According to the television network NBC, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) investigates whether the data, allegedly Loaned by the owner of an electronic repair shop to White House aide Rudy Giuliani, are linked to foreign operations to influence elections November 3.

Facebook and Twitter limit its spread

Twitter has taken an unusual move by banning the distribution of the contents of a medium, in this case in the New York Post, because the information originates from a hacker infiltration; An argument similar to that used by Facebook to limit the dissemination of this information, the authenticity of which has not been confirmed.

The information indicates that Hunter Biden facilitated an alleged meeting between Joe Biden, when he was vice president of Barack Obama (2009-2017), and Vadym Pozharsky, an advisor to the Ukrainian company Burisma, in which his son was a member of the board of directors. Biden’s campaign has denied that the meeting took place or that the candidate was involved in his son’s business in Ukraine.

The emails allegedly also reveal Hunter Biden’s relationships with a company chinese energy, now bankrupt.

Trump has used it for the campaign

The Trump campaign has used the material published by the New York Post to attack Biden in this final stretch, while both the president and some lawmakers have attacked Twitter and Facebook for limiting the dissemination of content.

The CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, has regretted that links to the articles of the New Yor Post without adding context about why it was done.

A confusing origin

The owner of the repair shop, John Paul Mac Isaac, has said that the computer equipment came into his hands in April 2019, but he does not know who gave it to him and that he decided to bring the contents of the hard drive to the attention of the FBI after no one came to pick up the laptop.

According to him New York Post, Isaac made a copy of the hard drive that he later handed to an attorney for former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who, according to US media, has previously worked with connections in Ukraine and Russia to get material that could hurt Democrats.

Steve Bannon, exasesor de Trump and a controversial strategist for conservative and nationalist causes brought the content of the hard drive to the Post in September, according to the tabloid itself.

The scandal, which exposes private details of Biden’s son, recalls the leak during the 2016 campaign of emails from the Democratic Party, carried out by Russian hackers, according to the findings of the independent investigation commissioned by the Department of Justice to former FBI Director Robert Mueller.

That leak and his role in Trump’s victory They led social networks such as Facebook or Twitter to take measures to limit the interference of foreign actors in the US electoral process.
