The film, the “Harry Potter” spinoff currently in production in the UK, will be released on July 15, 2022, after, recently, Warner Bros. had scheduled it for mid-November 2021.

For the role played by Depp in the first two feature films, the wizard Gellert Grindelwald, another performer is being sought. Depp’s scenes hadn’t been filmed yet.

Late last week, Warner Bros. asked the actor to leave the franchise after losing The Sun’s defamation suit. Depp has announced that he will appeal the decision of the London Court.

“Fantastic Beasts 3” is directed by David Yates, who also signed some of the Harry Potter movies. The cast includes Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler and Jessica Williams.

Writer JK Rowling, who published “Fantastic Beasts” in 2016 and the sequel to “The Crimes of Grindelwald” in 2018, is a co-writer, as is Steve Kloves.

“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” has grossed $ 800 million worldwide. Tickets for the second film in the series were sold, globally, worth $ 654 million.
