Amazon acquired the distribution rights to Prince Seeks a Son from Paramount, a sequel to the hugely popular Eddie Murphy film directed by John Landis in 1988.

Amazon Studios acquired from Paramount Pictures the worldwide distribution rights of the comedy The prince is looking for a son, the highly anticipated sequel to the Prince seeks a wife, a 1988 comedy starring Eddie Murphy e Arsenio Hall and directed by John Landis.
The Prince Seeks Son will then be streamed over 240 countries and territories on Amazon Prime Video starting March 5, 2021.
Once again, therefore, one of the flagship titles of what was to be the 2020/2021 film season will bypass the cinema circuit to reach the public directly at home on digital platforms.

In this new film, which will be directed by Craig Brewer – director of films like Hustle & Flow, Black Snake Moan e il remake di Footloose, and with which Eddie Murphy worked on the acclaimed film Netflix Dolemite is my Name – Prince Akeem is about to be crowned King of Zamunda when he discovers he has a son he never knew anything about in America: a smart Queens street boy named Lavelle. To honor their father’s deathbed wish, Akeem and Semmi set off again for the United States to find the boy and raise him as a crown prince.
Again the subject is sack flour Murphy, while the script is by Kenya Barris, author of the sitcom Black-ish, who worked on a script originally signed by David Sheffield e Barry W. Blaustein.
