Marc Priestley supported F1’s new Saturday sprint test, but failed to score the top three
Marc Priestley, He used to be a McLaren mechanic and is now an F1 commentator. He thinks Saturday’s sprint race (3 approved in 2021) is a good idea, but he would rather he not award points to the top three.
“F1 is really cool to try new things. And all the teams have found a way to reach a consensus, because it almost never happened. They are trying new things, which is good. Formula One, as an industrial and entertainment spectacle, has fallen behind. The world is constantly evolving, and the way people consume content is also changing. I know some hardcore racing fans like the traditional format, But new young fans are here,” Priestley recorded it on his blog.
“I am in favor of this, but my first feeling is that we should not give points because it means you will give points by giving Red Bull, Mercedes or anyone who is dominant at the time. Unless there is a major accident, it is extremely unlikely that there will be chaotic orders in a sprint race. Points will be allocated to Lewis Hamilton, Max Westerpen and the other one”,debate.
The British mechanic concluded: “Maybe they will take a bigger risk and have a better game on Sunday, but we don’t know until we see it.”
