Movies based on Resident Evil that were released from 2002 to 2016 can claim to be the film saga based on a video game that has raised the most money in all history.
But for game fans they are uncomfortable because not respecting the source material and for being mere show-off vehicles for Milla Jovovich – whose husband Paul WS Anderson is the one behind them.
Fortunately for the fans who have been waiting for almost 20 years for the day when a live-action movie of Resident Evil that really sticks to the tone of the games, at this time a reboot that will just be in tune with the two first titles of the franchise.
According to information from Deadline, Constantin Films studio is working on this reboot that it will not feature any of the stars of the films starring Jovovich, and whose director and cast have already been presented.
The director will be Johannes Roberts, filmmaker responsible for the films The Strangers: Prey at Night, 47 Meters Down and its sequel 47 Meters Down: Uncaged.
As for the cast, let’s go by parts.
Kaya Scodelario, actress known for her participation in films such as the trilogy Maze Runner and who we saw last year in the great Crawl, will give life to Claire Redfield.
Robbie Amell, who has appeared in series like The Flash Y Upload and in movies like The DUFF, will play Chris Redfield.
Avan Jogia, who we recently saw in the movie Zombieland: Double Tap, will give life to Leon S. Kennedy.
Hannah John-Kamen, an actress that in 2018 we saw in high-profile movies like Ready Player One, Tomb Raider Y Ant-Man and the Wasp, will interpret Jill Valentine.
Tom Hopper , who has lately been in the public eye for his performance in The Umbrella Academy, will embody Albert Wesker.
Y Neal McDonough, actor who has appeared in multiple films and series such as Captain America: The First Avenger, Sonic the Hedgehog, Legends of Tomorrow Y The 100 will give life to William Birkin.
