It’s no secret that Google Play Music is close to seeing his death when the Mountain View company closes completely. In recent months the company has been working so that users can transfer all their history, uploaded music, playlist and more from Google Play Music to YouTube Music and today it makes it clear again by closing the music store from Google Play.
This means that if you want to go to the Play Store to buy a song or album, you will no longer be able to do so because the store has closed, so the only way to buy music is through iTunes and other digital stores like Amazon.
What about the music you bought?
Google mentions that all music purchases from the store either by song or by album can be transferred to YouTube Music, so you can listen to them without any problem from Google’s new music platform, but you should know that you will not be able to return to buy music in the Google store so that it is automatically added to your account, so every time you have new music purchased on other platforms that you want to go to YouTube Music, you will have to upload it directly to the platform.
In the case of music purchased from Play Music, what you will have to do is follow the tutorial that we shared recently where we explain step by step how to transfer all your information and music from Play Music to YouTube Music. Remember that, if you have already done it and bought more music before the closing of the music store in the Play Store, then you will have to go through your history again to add the new music.
If you bought music on other platforms and you already have the files on your PC, then you can upload it as follows:
- Go to music.youtube.com and click on your profile picture.
- Select “Upload music” and select the files you want to upload, only those in FLAC, M4A, MP3, OGG and WMA formats are supported.
- When finished, the files will be available for playback in the YouTube Music application.
Remember that the uploaded and purchased music is not played together with the YouTube streaming catalog, but they appear separately from the “Songs” tab in your profile within the application.
