Buryatia became the first region in Russia to reintroduce strict restrictions due to the epidemiological situation. From 16 to 30 November, the work of catering enterprises, shopping centers, shops, beauty salons, swimming pools, saunas and baths was suspended.
The restrictions were introduced by the decree of the head of the Republic of Buryatia, Alexei Tsydenov. In his video message he stated that the re-blocking is a necessary step. The epidemiological situation in the region is becoming more complicated, so at the moment it is necessary to “separate people as much as possible, relieve the tension in the healthcare system and the testing system as much as possible.” Tsydenov said that now it is important for residents of Buryatia to stay at home in order to help turn the situation towards reducing the incidence. The head of the republic also stressed that the restrictions would last no more than two weeks, otherwise the consequences of the lockdown would be heavy both for business and for the republic as a whole.
From November 16 to November 30, 2020 inclusive in Buryatia, the work of restaurants, cafes, canteens, buffets, bars, snack bars and other catering establishments has been suspended, with the exception of take-out and delivery of orders. These restrictions apply to canteens and buffets, including those located in hotels. Shopping centers, entertainment venues, cinemas, swimming pools, saunas and baths are closing.
Exceptions are made for pharmacies and pharmacies, telecom stores, grocery stores and retail outlets where essential goods are sold.
Buryatia also suspended the movement of freight vehicles across the Russian-Mongolian border from November 16, 2020 to January 18, 2021. Border crossings of Mongolian citizens wishing to return home from Russia, as well as foreigners wishing to leave Mongolia, will be carried out by prior arrangement.
According to the republican operational headquarters, on Monday morning, 269 new cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Buryatia per day. In total, more than 15 thousand people have fallen ill since the beginning of the pandemic.
Recall that the subjects of the federation have the right to impose restrictions at their discretion, depending on the epidemiological situation. At the same time, the federal authorities do not exclude the possibility of introducing a lockdown throughout Russia, but this scenario is considered undesirable.
