CWhat hangs in the face of every citizen does not spare the leaders, as the setback which recently affected the painful formation of a Belgian government had further demonstrated. This time, the whole European level is disturbed: Charles Michel, the President of the European Council, or the areopagus of heads of state or government of EU countries, was forced on Tuesday afternoon to go into quarantine.
Consequence, in the immediate future: the extraordinary summit that the former Belgian Prime Minister had convened in Brussels on Thursday and Friday is canceled. At this stage, and betting on an outcome without any other bad surprise, Charles Michel has decided to postpone for one week, to October 1 and 2, this meeting scheduled with the European leaders. A summit to hold a “strategic discussion” on the EU’s relations with a series of external partners, including the difficult Turkey of President Erdogan.
