KHL club Torpedo Nizhni Novgorod reported four coronavirus infections within the team last weekend.
Now chairman of KHL Alexei Morozov has revealed RIA Novostillethat eight coronavirus infections have been reported in the Torpedo team. Most of the team’s players are placed in isolation.
The torpedo is scheduled to face Amur Khabarovsk tomorrow Thursday. Finns do not play in Torpedo.
Morozov also said in an interview with RIA Novost that KHL is not considering interrupting the season, even though the coronavirus has been rampant on the teams in the series. KHL have also had to postpone several matches.
Among others, the Russian Sport Express website reported on Tuesday that more than half of the SKA players in St. Petersburg may have been diagnosed with a coronavirus infection.
The Lokomotiv Yaroslavl team, on the other hand, has circulated in the public domain that 30 players in the team have been diagnosed with a coronavirus infection. Also Salavat Yulayev Ufa’s Finnish coach Tomi Lämsä and Markus Granlund have given a positive coronavirus test.
– We test players and club staff every fifth day, which is why the number of infections is high. Most have had asymptomatic disease. If we hadn’t tested them so often, they would have played and not found themselves sore, Morozov said in an interview.
