Foldable phones are still considered a niche, but the market is growing rapidly and you may see more models in the coming years. Until then, a company you haven’t heard of wants to fight Huawei and Samsung in this segment.

The name Royole Corp probably doesn’t tell you much, but you should know that it’s actually the company that came up with the world’s first foldable phone. Obviously, the model was not successful and you may not have heard of it, but it was enough to inspire big manufacturers like Huawei and Samsung. Which have similar models on the market that you know for sure.

Now, Royole Corp raises and, after coming up with the first foldable phone in November 2018, it now brings a variant that it says is much improved. It’s about FlexPai 2, which has big plans: it wants a direct competitor for Samsung and Huawei.

The foldable phone that wants to fight with the Samsung and Huawei models

Royole Corp. is an American-Chinese startup that has big plans in the phone industry. The FlexPai 2 model, which it is presenting now, is much stronger than the one from November 2018, the company claims.

It would therefore be an improved model that costs at least $ 500 less than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 2 rival, for example. In China, it has a starting price of around $ 1,471. And here’s what he offers you with this money.

The FlexPai 2 foldable phone is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor that powers the phone, which means 5G connectivity. It has 8 GB to 12 GB LPDDR5 RAM, a 4,450 mAh battery, four camera lenses – including an ultra-wide 16MP telephoto lens, 8MP 3x optical zoom, a 64MP main camera and a 32MP portrait lens for Selfies.

The phone has an improved articulation mechanism, which has apparently been tested to withstand over 1.8 million folds. It is also 40% thinner than the original and has a thickness of 6.3 mm. It’s a little thinner than what Samsung offers, but not as thin as the Huawei model.

FlexPai 2 folds outwards, not inwards, but means that the main screen is constantly exposed, which also requires protection. The screen has 7.8 inches, with a resolution of 1920 x 1440 and a 3: 4 aspect ratio.
