Bastian Schweinsteiger gave up his career as a professional footballer about a year ago. What does he use the newly gained time for now? For his family, of course.
Together with Ana Ivanovic, 32, Bastian Schweinsteiger, 36, has the two sons Luka and Leon. Since he ended his career in professional football, he has been able to devote himself much more to family life. And that seems to like the “football retiree” really well.
Bastian Schweinsteiger in family happiness
“I really enjoy watching the family grow, how our children get bigger,” he enthuses in an interview with RTL. Sounds like the 36-year-old and his wife are not averse to having more children.
In addition to everyday family life with his two boys and wife Ana, which they often spend in their second home, Mallorca, Bastian Schweinsteiger also enjoys the newfound free time. And sport is not neglected even after retirement. “We do a lot of fitness together in the gym or outside or on the bike. We are still very sporty there,” he explains. Tennis-Matches mit Ana Ivanovic
Every now and then, the father of the family takes up the tennis racket for a few matches with his loved one. Here, however, he doesn’t seem to be able to hold a candle to her, as he admits. “It looks like this: She distributes the balls and I have to run a lot – that’s sometimes a bit boring for her,” he said in an interview with “Brisant”.
He misses football
That’s why he was – in the truest sense of the word – a world champion on the lawn. He still fondly remembers the time on the pitch, albeit with a little sadness today. “I really appreciate every day with my family, but of course there are moments when I miss football. I look back on the team thoughts with the boys in the dressing room,” said Schweini.
The ex-kicker and the former number one in the WTA world rankings tied the knot in Venice in 2016. In 2018 her first son Luka saw the light of day, a year later little Leon.
