What’s the best 14 inch laptop and smaller? And which one has the best price-quality ratio? Press and the Consumers’ Association provide an answer.
Are you on the road a lot? Then a small laptop is often more convenient. They are light and easy to carry in your bag. But for intensive use it is usually better to choose a slightly heavier model. Cheaper small laptops, in particular, are often not suitable for long periods of work.
The Consumers’ Association tests laptops for speed, screen quality, hardware and ease of use. A total of 144 laptops have been tested and are widely available.
Within the 14-inch and smaller category, an Acer model is the Best in the Test. A model from HP has the best value for money and is therefore the Best Buy.
The Acer is the best 14-inch laptop in the test. It has a 256 GB SSD and an Intel Core i5 processor.
The size and weight of this laptop makes it versatile. It is just large enough to work comfortably a little longer, but also compact and light enough (1.42 kilos) to be easy to carry.
The working speed of this laptop is excellent. It is also powerful enough for intensive use, such as video and photo editing. The battery lasts a long time: more than ten hours with light use.
The new WiFi 6 chip is also useful. You don’t notice much of this now (most home networks still work with WiFi 5), but the laptop is therefore future-proof.
A disadvantage is the somewhat different color reproduction and the low maximum brightness. Although most average users do not really notice that. In addition, the disk space can be a bit on the small side for some users. Of the 256 GB you have about 200 GB that you can use for storage.
This HP model is a bit cheaper than the Acer and also performs a little less well.
The size of this laptop is, just like the Acer, 14 inches. It has a 256 GB SSD and an Intel Core i3 processor. The computing power of this processor is excellent and the start-up is fast. You can fold the screen of this laptop completely, so that you can also use it as a tablet.
