Trainer Erik ten Hag is very satisfied with the way Ajax played with ten men against Sparta Rotterdam. The team from Amsterdam won 0-1 at Het Kasteel on Sunday in the Eredivisie.
Ten Hag happy with Blind and Antony
“It is great that there is such a team, including the changes”, Ten Hag said afterwards FOX Sports. “They fought and took the victory out of the fire. They did a great job together. I can’t really think of anything that went wrong.”
After half an hour Ajax had to continue with ten men against Sparta because Nicolás Tagliafico was sent off the field because of hands. Despite the mean situation, Antony put Ajax on 0-1 and that lead kept the record champion.
“Of course a shot can come in the direction of the goal, but with André Onana we have an excellent keeper. Furthermore, they (Sparta Rotterdam, ed.) Have had no real chances”, continued Ten Hag.

The trainer did not want to say anything more about Tagliafico’s red card. “I have an idea about that, but I don’t want to say anything about it. That’s something for the arbitration. That also applies to Onana’s time stretching.”
Ten Hag gave Daley Blind a base place against Sparta. The defender went to the ground against Hertha BSC last month when his defibrillator went off. “Daley has shown that he is fit and very important. He gives the team a rest, both on the ball and from a tactical point of view,” said Ten Hag.
Antony also received compliments from Ten Hag. The Brazilian made his debut and was crowned match winner. “It was also a tough game for him. You can see a number of good things, such as his goal. He did an excellent job.”
