Dusan Tadic was spotted on Tuesday in Herning, Denmark, where Ajax will play against FC Midtjylland in the group stage of the Champions League on Tuesday evening. It is not yet clear whether the Serbian and the other players of Ajax may participate.
The 31-year-old Tadic did not travel with the rest of the Ajax selection on Monday, just like Ryan Gravenberch, André Onana, Davy Klaassen, Maarten Stekelenburg, Zakaria Labyad and Dominik Kotarski, due to a positive corona test.
Various media later reported that Tadic, Gravenberch and Onana boarded a plane to Denmark on Monday evening. In a second round, the trio tested negative. The first positive test may have been caused by residual levels of the virus in the blood after a previous infection.
Tadic is now certain that he is in Denmark and according to the Danish newspaper Extra Bladet the Ajax captain can just take action against Midtjylland on Tuesday, just like Onana and Gravenberch. The team from Amsterdam and UEFA do not want to confirm that news yet. According to it AD Labyad can also be used.
The other positively tested players have stayed behind in Amsterdam. Due to the absence of Klaassen, trainer Erik ten Hag misses at least one permanent employee. The midfielder returned to Ajax in the past transfer period and immediately forced a starting spot.
The match between Ajax and Midtjylland starts on Tuesday at 9 p.m. The team from Amsterdam must win against the Danes to keep a good chance for a place in the knockout phase of the Champions League.
