Some “grandma” ingredients to have in the medicine cabinet: lemon juice (antibacterial and anti-inflammatory: to be used for naturally cleansing wounds), baking powder (anti-fungal and disinfectant: for example to be used against fungal infections and perspiration),Green clay (curative and anti-inflammatory: best for sports injuries) and … potato, an unusual but essential ally against sunburn!
Aromatherapy, homeopathy and grandmother tips
We can add some essential oils:peppermint essential oil (Mentha piperita L. var piperita.), for example, against headaches and motion sickness, orlavender aspic essential oil (Lavandula latifolia Medikus) which is used against sunburn, insect bites and stings, wounds and fungal infections – a real Swiss army knife. However, beware of contraindications: ask your pharmacist for advice.
Finally, to complete the SOS kit, some homeopathic remedies: Ledum Palustre 7 CH (counter mosquito bites), Belladonna 5 CH (against sunburn), Nux Vomica 5 CH (against ingestion and excessive alcohol consumption) and Apis 5 CH (with mild allergy to the sun).
