Most people know Udo Walz as an always beaming optimist. And so he also takes the latest hurdle that life has set him with humor. The star hairdresser is currently in a wheelchair – and the reason for this is really funny.
From Monday to Saturday – six days a week – Udo Walz, 76, is in his hairdressing salon on Berlin’s Kurfürstendamm. He cuts, colors, tints, blow-drying and lays. Usually. At the moment he is not “standing”, he is sitting. And drives from A to B. Because the Berliner by choice is currently confined to a wheelchair. But Udo doesn’t let that get him down – on the contrary.
Udo Walz enjoys a new state
What happened to Udo Walz that he can no longer move about? “Don’t worry, everything is fine,” the hairdresser told the “Bild” newspaper, explaining how his current condition came about: “Something was done wrong with a pedicure and corrected again through the operation.” So it’s not that wild – and for the 76-year-old, his current condition even has advantages.
Because of Corona in a wheelchair
The current hygiene requirements regarding Corona have prompted Udo Walz to use a wheelchair. Because the waiting area of his salon is currently blocked, which is why he could not sit there. And standing for several hours a day is currently not possible after the procedure. “So I said that I would take a wheelchair then,” says the humorous hairdresser. He can also make jokes about his new vehicle: “I love to sit in a wheelchair temporarily. That way I can get to customers faster.” Do people who are permanently dependent on a wheelchair also find it so funny? Questionable. In any case, Udo does not let himself be disturbed, at least he knows that his current situation is finite.
