Remember the 2008 comedy Stepbrothers at 40? A youtuber has replaced the faces of John C. Reilly and Will Ferrell with those of Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger in a clip from the film.
The more you see videos with actors’ faces replaced with those of other actors, the more evident it is that deepfake is nonsense. Or rather, it is nothing different from a simple filter applied to a face At most it tears a smile, for about 5 seconds, then the addiction to social networks leads us to the next video selected for us.
So the choice of which faces to replace, if you really want to waste time, becomes fundamental. Knowing that the character of Peter Parker interpreted by Tom Holland is based on Marty McFly, and knowing the student / mentor relationship between Spider-Man and the Tony Stark of Robert Downey Jr. (considering the extreme popularity of the films Marvel and of Back to the Future), choosing a deepfake with their faces on those of Michael J. Fox e Christopher Lloyd stimulates the curiosity effect and can go beyond the aforementioned smile.
Ma Sylvester Stallone e Arnold Schwarzenegger in Step brothers at 40? In this case the effect would be complete if the unmistakable voices of the two actors could also be heard in the clip (the first cavernous, the second Teutonic). Instead they remain those of John C. Reilly e Will Ferrell, in what is a very funny 2008 comedy. To you the last word by starting the player below to see the video deepfake.
Stepbrothers at 40: the plot of the comedy with Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly
Brennan Huff (Will Ferrell) is a 39 year old who still lives with his mother, Nancy (Mary Steenburgen), and works only occasionally, while Dale Doback (John C. Reilly) is a chronically unemployed person who lives with his father, Robert (Richard Jenkins). When Robert and Nancy decide to get married and move in together, Brennan and Dale, now half brothers, find themselves living together. The narcissism and laziness that characterize both of them threaten to destroy the new family unit, and so these two middle-aged men, overgrown children, will orchestrate a plan to reconcile their parents. And, to implement it, they will be forced to create an unlikely bond that maybe, but just maybe, will finally get them out of the house.
