The streaming music service explained how the price of its plans is now made up.
Spotify sent an email this Friday night advising of the change: from the next billing it will include the 35% tax, just like Netflix does.
“Some governments are implementing policies that require digital services like Spotify to charge new taxes. Argentina has implemented a new tax of 35%, in addition to the PAIS tax and VAT“, they explained in an email.
From the announcements of the Central Bank (BCRA) the strategy began to circulate to pass the services to be charged in pesos and thus not pay the tax or “eat” the savings quota in dollars. However, the idea of avoiding 35% of the Tax on Income and Personal Property to the purchase of foreign currency will not be possible with these services.
The personal plan would be close to 131 pesos. The Spotify Premium Family Plan, which was $ 239 until today, will go down to $ 391.96. This is because $ 19.12 is added, of 8% of the PAIS tax, $ 83.65 of the new 35% and $ 50.19 from VAT.
It is very important to understand that the BCRA explained that it does not matter if the service arrives in pesos or dollars: the pesification implies that it went through the exchange market and, therefore, the tax is charged.
