Martin Ødegaard is said to have tested positive for coronavirus, according to several Spanish media, including Onda Cero and Cadena SER.

The Norwegian is said to have been tested after Real Madrid returned from Sunday’s match against Real Sociedad. That test should – as the only one – have had a positive result.

– All players are tested before and after each La Liga match, Viasat expert Petter Veland explains to VG. He believes the Spanish media are credible.

It is reported that Real Madrid is waiting for a new test result. The reason is that so-called PCR tests can give “false samples”, ie an incorrect test result. If the second test also turns out to be positive, Veland is in no doubt about what the outcome will be:

– Then it’s right in isolation.

According to

Ødegaard is now in the karate for ten days or until he tests negative, but he will not be relevant in Saturday’s match against Real Betis.

According to the newspaper, all Real Madrid players will complete a new test on Tuesday afternoon, and will be tested again on Wednesday. If none of the tests turn out to be positive, the team can start training again. Ødegaard should not have been at the club’s training ground on Tuesday, as the players had time off.

Veland believes the positive test does not necessarily mean a long period off the football field.

– David Silva tested positive the day after he signed for Real Sociedad (August 31) and he was seen in action against Real Madrid in this weekend’s series premiere (September 20).

The football expert says that there must have been around 65 cases of infection among players and support staff in Spanish football and that all of them must have returned to their roles after illness. The vast majority must have had asymptomatic courses.

Onda Cero writes that Real Sociedad should have carried out tests on its players on Monday, but that no tests were positive.

The news comes 16 days before Norway will play a decisive match against Serbia in the European Championship qualifiers. Ødegaard stood over the last national team gathering to be ready to play. He has a period, which should have bothered him especially in the spring season.
