The Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sanchez announced on Sunday that it intends to maintain the state of emergency it has just declared until the beginning of May.

In just over half a year the state of emergency regional governments have the right to choose to declare a night-time curfew. In addition, gatherings of more than six people are prohibited and domestic traffic may be restricted.

The purpose of the restrictions is to get Spain to torture the second wave of the Corona. There are already more than a million infections in the country, and the situation in the capital, Madrid in particular, looks miserable.

– The most important thing for us is that the economy will not suffer any more, the head of the Madrid regional government Isabel Diaz Ayuso said more on Wednesday.

Díaz Ayuso is Sánchez’s political opponent, and right-wing Madrid has not wanted to succumb to the will of the socialist central government in coronation.

Madrid has about a third of all coronary infections in Spain.

– We have to make sacrifices. None of us wants to impose restrictions if they are not necessary to protect the health of citizens, Sánchez explained.

The derogation is not valid in the Canary Islands, which is the only Spanish area with little access.

– The more protected we are, the longer we stay at home and the less we meet other people. Only in this way will we be able to protect the health of our loved ones and everyone else.

In Italy, too, the situation is once again getting out of hand. Prime minister Giuseppe Conte has ordered the closure of gyms, cinemas and swimming pools. In the bars and restaurants, shopping ends in the evening, but even after that, you can take food and drink with them.

Italy’s daily infection rates have increased fivefold since early October.
