Version 8.00 aims to further simplify the measurements on digital entertainment on the platform.
While waiting for the arrival of the next generation of consoles, Sony still has plans for the PlayStation 4. This Wednesday he launched version 8.00 of their operating system, which include new tools for parents to control the activity of your children on the platform.
Specifically, the new package of functions brings new features to group chat (Party) and private messages, which will use the same groups for voice and text conversations, as PayStation noted in a statement.
Version 8.00 targets further simplify control measures that parents can exercise on the forms of digital entertainment of their children on the platform, and the communications generated by the regular use of online games, since now will be in the same tab.
Likewise, minors will have to ask their parents for permission to exchange messages with other people in each specific video game chat, so they can approve or reject them based on the title.
The update too remove some functions previously available, such as the Events -which cannot be created or accessed- and private communities through the PS4 Community app -in this case cannot be created but it does access the existing ones.
Furthermore, the characteristic of two-step verification will now allow the use of third-party authentication applications both on PS4 and on mobile phones and the web.
On the other hand, in terms of aesthetics, the new version of the system also introduces new avatars inspired by exclusive video games on the console such as Bloodborne, Journey, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, The Last of Us Part II and Uncharted 4, as well as the option to mute all microphones from the quick menu.
This update comes just less than two months before the launch of your new PlayStation 5, which will arrive on December 5 at a price of $ 99,999 for its disc version and of 75,999 pesos for the variant that only supports games in digital format.
In the middle of the coronavirus pandemic, the Japanese company published the economic results of its first quarter of the fiscal year, in which overall it gained 53.3% more, while in the separate video games division it also increased by 32.5%.
Video game sales brought Sony revenue of $ 3.7 billion in the last quarter, compared to $ 2.27 billion in the same period last year.
