During the pandemic, the number of private investors on the Oslo Stock Exchange increased, with a record number of new immigrants in the first three months of this year. There are nearly 95,000 small depositors with stocks in the hot Euronext Growth market.

New data from the foundation shows that in the first quarter, nearly 37,800 new private individuals became shareholders of the Oslo Stock Exchange, a record high.
There are currently 514,000 privately-owned listed shares and so-called stock certificates in Norway, with a total value of NOK 156 billion. That is also a new record.
Skaug pointed out several possible reasons for the growth.

Bård Kittelsrud, head of online stock trading, said that compared with the same period last year, DNB Markets’ private clients increased by 75% in the first quarter of this year.

The Euronext trading market has become a popular market for new companies and has attracted more and more investors.
The listing boom on the Euronext stock exchange started in 2020. This year, this upsurge has continued. After 49 companies have IPOs in 2020, 25 new shares have been listed so far this year.
According to the AksjeNorge report, the number of private shareholders increased from 68,900 to around 94,800 in the first quarter. As early as the fourth quarter of 2019, Euronext Group owned no more than 9,000 individuals.
