Brazil added 908 new deaths from coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the highest daily figure for the period since September, so the total number of deaths reached 164,281, the Ministry of Health reported on Thursday.
In its bulletin released daily, the portfolio also reported 33,207 new infections in the last day, with which the confirmed cases of COVID-19 now stand at 5,781,582.
The South American country, one of the hardest hit by the health emergency, did not register such high figures since mid-September.
However, the Ministry explained that the increase is due to technical problems that have affected official information systems since last Thursday, which has prevented various states from being able to update your stats correctly throughout the last seven days.
He added that, once normality was restored in the platforms, the information was “updated or corrected”.
The Ministry also reported that 5,256,767 people have already recovered from the coronavirus in Brazil, which represents 90.9% of the total number of infected, while another 360,534 patients are still under medical supervision.
For several weeks, the pandemic has been showing a clear downward trend in Brazil, although in absolute numbers the country remains as the second in the world with the most deaths, behind the United States, and third in number of cases, after the United States and India.
