Skyhawk Security releases Synthesis Security Platform with cloud threat detection, CIEM, ITDR, and free CSPM; cloud security complex and alert fatigue; multi-cloud solutions needed; many vendors solving needs of cloud applications.
Skyhawk Security has released its Synthesis Security Platform, a solution for securing cloud infrastructure across multi-cloud environments. The platform features cloud threat detection and response as well as cloud Infrastructure entitlement management (CIEM), identity threat detection and response (ITDR), and advanced cloud security posture management (CSPM). Skyhawk is now offering CSPM for free.
Skyhawk CEO Chen Burshan said security leaders are struggling to understand which tools are protecting them from cloud breaches and how. He added that Skyhawk Synthesis takes a different approach, covering baseline posture management, reporting and compliance, with the added focus on detection at runtime. This includes network, identity, permissions and access management.
Frank Dickson of IDC said multi-cloud solutions are a clear need, and that including an identity feature as part of a cloud detection and response solution is a great idea. He added that eliminating false positives is a message that will be well-received by all security professionals.
Melinda Marks from Tech Target’s Enterprise Strategy Group said vendors like Skyhawk are responding to the reality that traditional methods of scanning and looking for misconfigurations just create alerts without the context to prioritize actions. She added that many security vendors are now focused on using monitoring and observability data of running applications to get the context they need to rapidly detect and respond to incidents. Examples of other vendors in this area include Orca, Wiz, Lacework, Palo Alto Networks Prisma Cloud, and XDR and EDR vendors.
