First clapperboard shot for Alessandro Celli’s debut work, produced by Matteo Rovere’s Greenland.

Protagonist of films such as Do not be naughty, On my skin e The first king, and as standard as Suburra e Devils, Alessandro Borghi is one of the best and most loved young actors in our cinema.
In January we will see him in the new film by Paolo Genovese titled Super heroes, but for a few days Villages is on the set of a new film that sees him as the absolute protagonist: Mondocane, work before Alessandro Celli, which is manufactured by Matteo Rovere and from his Greenland, in partnership with Rai Cinema.
Above, one first official image of Borghi from the set of the film, taken by Paolo Ciriello.
Written by Celli himself together with Antonio Leotti, Mondocane tells the story of “two great friends, almost brothers, between love, crime and ambition in a world of the future that looks terrifyingly like ours.” Also in the cast Barbara Ronchi, Ludovica Nasti, Josafat Vagni and Federica Torchetti, and for the first time on screen Dennis Protopapa and Giuliano Soprano.
This the official synopsis of the film:

In the not too distant future, Taranto is a ghost town surrounded by barbed wire that no one, not even the police, dares to enter. The poorest are left fighting for survival, while a criminal gang, the Formiche, headed by the charismatic Testacalda (Alessandro Borghi), is competing for territory with another gang. Two thirteen-year-old orphans, who grew up together, dream of joining that gang. Pietro, known as Mondocane for having passed the acceptance test in the gang, forces Christian to the group that mocks him calling him Pisciasotto. But something breaks in their balance, putting everything they believe in at risk.

“Greenland film continues to bet on films that aim to surpass the genre while respecting its rules, in a mix of entertainment and quality of storytelling, which is for us the greatest challenge continuously,” he said. Matteo Rovere. “Our work on the first works is constant, the search for new talents is the only guarantee of the future for the Italian industry, and the encounter with this script was dazzling.”
Filming of Mondocane will be held for seven weeks between Rome and Taranto.
The photography of the film is by Giuseppe Maio, the scenography by Fabrizio D’Arpino, the costumes by Andrea Cavalletto, the Make-Up and Prosthetic Designer by Roberto Pastore, the hair stylist by Sharim Sabatini and the editing by Clelio Benevento.
