The detainees are two brothers, Marco and Gabriele Bianchi, and Mario Pincarelli and Francesco Belleggia and they are charged with aggravated intentional homicide with futile motives, while investigators have ruled out the cause of racism in the murder.

The smiling face of Willy Monteiro Duarte, a young man who wanted to be a chef and who dreamed of playing football with Roma, occupies today all the pages of the newspapers and spaces in the country’s newscasts.

He was born in Rome to a Cape Verdean family and lived with his family in Paliano, in the province of Frosinone, studied at the Fiuggi hotel institute and worked as a kitchen assistant in a hotel in Artena.

According to the newspapers, the murder took place in Sunday morning in the back of a building not far from a police station, from where a camera would partially film the scene.

Reconstruction of the facts

Monteiro Duarte was returning home with other friends and allegedly witnessed the fight in which a group of people, whose composition is not clear, would have targeted a child he knew.

According to the first reconstructions, Monteiro Duarte would have approached to calm the fight, but he was attacked and a kick came directly to his head, although cause of death has yet to be confirmed by autopsy.

The father of another of the boys who escaped the attack explained that they had just left a local when they noticed that there was a fight and they approached to calm down.

“My son and others managed to escape, poor Willy stayed on the ground. They beat him to death and kicked him in the head. Five to one. Cowards. My son was a good friend of Willy and is in shock,” he explained to the media.

The lawyer for the two detained brothers said today that neither of them touched Willy and gave the names of the rest of the people who were involved in the fight.

Commotion in the country

The first Minister, Giuseppe Conte, said to be “shocked“and called the boy’s parents.

“I found a heartbroken father, like the whole family. It is not for me to talk about the judicial investigations but let’s stop and think:” What will we say to our children? Not to intervene in a dispute? “Conte told reporters from Beirut, referring to the case as”blind violence“.

On the death of the young man they have expressed other people from the world of politics.

The leader of the League, Matteo Salvini, affirmed that Willy was “a golden boy” and requested “exemplary penalties for the aggressors”.

The President of Lazio and Secretary General of the Democratic Party, Nicola Zingaretti, affirmed that the region is willing to pay all the legal expenses of the trial against the boy’s assailants.
