Singer Shawn Mendes will star in a new Netflix documentary about his music career, that will take the witness of the tapes previously dedicated other pop stars like Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and Beyoncé.

In Wonder is the title of the film that the streaming platform will premiere on November 23, just a week before the Canadian releases his latest album, Wonder, on December 4.

The documentary about Mendes, directed by the filmmaker Grant Singer, was presented at the last edition of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), a contest in which the musician sponsors an award for works directed by young filmmakers about current problems.

Like other similar tapes, In Wonderreviews Mendes’ career and shows intimate moments and interviews with the artist recorded over several years.

Thus, Netflix continues with its strategy of launching documentaries about contemporary artists that are successfully received among its wide circles of followers, as has been the recent case of Blackpink, Light Up the Sky, released this October about one of the K-pop groups that is generating the most attention in the world.

Earlier this year the platform launched Miss Americana on Taylor Siwft and in 2017 did the same with Five Foot Two, the audiovisual portrait of Lady Gaga. Although perhaps the most publicized was Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé, featuring Beyoncé’s iconic performance at the 2018 Coachella Festival.

For its part, Apple does not want to miss the trend either and will debut in February 2021 Billie Eilish: The World”s a Little Blurry, about the life of Billie Eilish, who at 18 made history this 2020 by becoming the youngest artist to win the top four categories at the prestigious Grammys.
